We started with the desire to create a sensual object, one that would be visually pleasing and satisfying to hold and touch. We quickly arrived at pebble-like forms, each different, in the same way no two pebbles are identical. Leaving the 'neck' of the blade exposed added a lightness and even more contrast, without compromising the sturdiness and functionality of the knives. The Oak and Walnut handles were shaped and finished by hand.

Gymnasium is a London based design studio, working across the physical, digital and three dimensional. Guiding the practice is a search for beautiful and soulful outcomes. We aim to create thoughtful experiences that last. We do this through structured methods, exploration, experimentation, experience and intuition.
