Restaurant Jan, situated in the heart of Munich, is a beacon of contemporary fine dining that seamlessly blends innovation with culinary tradition. Helmed by the esteemed Jan Hartwig, the restaurant has quickly garnered attention for its exceptional cuisine and meticulous attention to detail, earning multiple accolades, including three Michelin tars within its first year.


Born in Germany, Hartwig’s culinary journey began under the guidance of his father, a chef who inspired his passion for cooking from a young age. He honed his skills at renowned establishments, including the three-starred Aqua in Wolfsburg, where he worked under Sven Elverfeld, and later as the Executive Chef at Atelier in Munich, where he earned three Michelin stars. In 2022, Hartwig embarked on a new chapter, opening his eponymous restaurant, Jan, which reflects his culinary vision and personal philosophy.


At Jan, Hartwig crafts a menu that celebrates the finest ingredients, combining classical French techniques with modern flair. We have made a few knives for Jan, three different models - the first editions were very colourful and incorporated composites and wood. For the latest edition we have made a white to blue gradient handle on a Kedma stacked table knife, referencing the dominant colours of the kitchen at Jan.
