Description
The handle was designed using simple geometric forms, carefully composed according to the principles of Córdoba’s Proportion, a system rooted in the architectural tradition of Córdoba and mathematically comparable to the golden ratio. This proportion is defined by the relationship between the radius of a circumscribed circle and the side of a regular octagon, a geometric logic that played a fundamental role in Caliphal architecture, with roots in earlier Roman aesthetics, and has been present in arts and buildings from ancient times to contemporary constructions. Guided by this harmony, the design achieves a balanced and refined form. Its name and color draw inspiration from the sky over the city and the distinctive blues found in Córdoba’s patios, creating a subtle connection to its origin.
Marta Ayala Herrera is a graduate in Engineering in Industrial Design and specialized in furniture design. Currently based in Barcelona, she has worked in different fields such as product design, ephemeral architecture and interior design.
Her work focuses on the relationship of the individual with his environment through the objects. She likes to experiment with industrial materials and craft processes to create her pieces. Finally, the main goal of her design practice is to look for and discover the new languages of contemporary design.
