Description
The June '25 Maker's Edition composes of eighteen uniquely numbered choppers from Damax which is a Stainless Damascus steel by Alleima. Having previously worked with this steel, we set out to take advantage of the thin layering and manipulate the material in a controlled manner to create new patterns. We have drilled and hammered the blanks to distort and disrupt the layering, gave it a nice deep acid bath in the hot Spanish sun and a final polish.
We are especially pleased with the results of the heat treatment, A very high hardness of 62HRC, possible a touch higher, with the cutting geometry and sharpness to match.
For this edition we tried something a bit new for the handles, trying to make a thicker front part and a thinner back part but as we adjusted the width for comfort it ended up being very similar to the unique handles made by our dear friend Fingal Ferguson so this is a one time only thing.
