Description
Zip-Zap, the proposal is based on a simple exercise, sharing the design and production process with my neighbor, a local wood craftsman. Each one would design two knives according to their approach and one of them in a collaborative way. The result is a mix of local materials that have traditionally been used on the island, such as tea and tagasaste.
Octavio Barrera is an independent designer and multidisciplinary artist from the Canary Islands who works transversally between the fields of furniture, objects and lighting. He currently develops both commissioned projects and personal creative explorations where he investigates artisanal processes and materials from an experimental and hands-on approach.
Iván Montero, El Pinar de El Hierro, 1971 (Wood craftsman). Self-taught and successor to the family workshop, Montero works in an organic and personal language, creating mainly pieces from the traditional culture of the island as well as more modern ones that he has worked on in recent years applying new techniques and finishes.

Do not place in the dishwasher. Wash using a mild detergent and a non-abrasive sponge. Store in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid cutting on glass, metal, ceramic, or bamboo surfaces to prevent blade dullness. Before extended storage, apply mineral or camellia oil to the blade and handle using a cloth.
Do not work with dull knives. Sharpen them often to professional standards. For sharpening services and workshops, contact our friends at thesharpening.shop
